Gone and back

Nine hundred miles on the road since Sunday: feels good to be in a chair that’s not moving. Got to visit four camps where we looked back at summer and then to what’s ahead in the coming months. Sometimes the news about camping is dire–and the pressures are real in a day when there’s lots of competition for time, energy and money–but visiting these operations reminds me how much good happens at camp.

This trip began scant hours after the Book Tour stop at Midtown Scholar–which was marvelous. Great room, enthusiastic crowd, fun to read and interact. Several came who were instrumental in making Playa happen, and it was a delight to look around and realize that it takes a village to ‘raise’ a book, too. The Book Tour is still rolling, with the next stop outside Allentown in October. Meanwhile, I’m wondering where else this novel is showing up.
