On the way into Seattle, if the day is at least a little clear, Mount Rainier will rise above the cloud line and fill the airplane’s tiny window. It’s the opening act for an area full of wonders: rocketing trees, rambling lakes, ranging mountains. We saw a bald eagle perched on a street lamp, driving out of town, too.
The natural environment overwhelms. The built environment is pretty amazing, too, as evidence of care with and interest in design and materials crops up all over. Seattle’s newest museum–the Chihuly Garden and Glass–is one such example.
